Hardin County records two fatal crashes in 24 hours

HARDIN COUNTY — An elderly man and a teenage boy are dead as a result of two fatal crashes that took place within 24 hours in Hardin County.

At 12:22 p.m. Wednesday, Hardin County Dispatch was notified of a two-vehicle head-on crash on County Road 75, just south of state Route 67 in McDonald Township. Joseph R. Moore, 56, of Kenton was killed when his southbound vehicle veered into the path of a northbound truck and trailer driven by Keith Elsasser, 68, of Kenton, who was not injured.

At 4:25 a.m. Thursday, dispatch responded to a single-vehicle crash near 10677 County Road 30 in Dola. The crash claimed the life of a 17-year-old male from Dunkirk, whose eastbound vehicle traveled off the side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle veered off the south side of the roadway, returned, then traveled off the north side of the road and struck the tree.

Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Roundhead EMS and fire department, Richland Township fire department, BMRT EMS, Multi-County Crash Investigation Team, Dunkirk EMS and fire department and the Hardin County coroner’s office in the crashes.
