Senate passes bill for more JSMC work

LIMA — A Senate-passed version of the National Defense Authorization Act includes more than $1 billion in funding for Abrams and Stryker tank upgrades and modifications, both produced at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima.

Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, voted in favor of the Senate’s version of the NDAA last week. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who has previously voted in favor of and worked to secure NDAA funding for the JSMC, opposed the bill, citing a provision that would allow President Donald Trump to shorten the amount of time to conduct a nuclear test, which he described as “dangerous.”
