One dead from Thursday crash in Ada

ADA — A two-car traffic accident in the village of Ada on Thursday left one person dead and two people injured.

According to a statement issued by the village, police were dispatched at 6:12 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of South Johnson Street and East Lehr Avenue in response to an injury accident.

It was determined that a vehicle driven by Billie Boutwell, with Aaron Evans as a passenger, was southbound on South Johnson Street when her vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle driven by Catherine Summit. Eyewitnesses said Summit’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on East Lehr Avenue.

All three people were injured in the crash and transported to Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, where Evans later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

A spokeswoman for the Ada Police Department on Friday said the ages and addresses of the individuals involved in the accident were not available.

The Ada Police Department, with the assistance of Hardin County Sheriff’s office and other agencies, is currently investigating the details of the crash. Ada Fire and EMS and Alger EMS also responded to the scene.
