COLUMBUS — Two Ohio teenagers have been charged in the shooting death of a 14-year-old youth.
Columbus police say patrol officers responding at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a shooting found 14-year-old Nyser Terry with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later at a hospital.
Police said detectives found out that the victim and two other people were in a stolen vehicle firing gunshots at a group of people on the street. Witnesses identified several of the suspects. It wasn’t immediately clear if Terry was killed in an exchange of gunfire or by shots fired from within the vehicle.
Police said a 16-year-old suspect was arrested Friday after a report of a stolen vehicle, and his arrest led to the arrest of a 15-year-old youth. The two are charged with murder in the death of Terry.
On Monday, a 13-year-old boy was shot while riding his bicycle to an east Columbus store. On June 21, a 15-year-old youth was killed on the city’s west side in a shooting that also wounded a man delivering pizza in the area at the time.
