LIMA — Lima’s iHeartRadio station WIMA 1150 AM’s live local morning news segment returned to airwaves Monday.
In May 2019, the station made cuts to local programming, but the segment has been reinstated by long-time broadcaster Todd Walker every morning from 7 to 9 a.m.
“It’ll be interviews with local newsmakers and about events that are going on. Thankfully this week we’ve heard of events that actually are going on, so that’s been a little bit encouraging,” Walker said. “We still have the local news and sports and weather and all those staples of morning radio show over the years. We’re excited about it.”
The return was highlighted at Wednesday’s press conference with Lima Mayor David Berger.
“We have had a tradition — a rich tradition — of local media in our community to the extent that when we lose that, we lose something important,” Berger said. “I want to applaud the decision at iHeart ClearChannel to re-establish that morning news segment.”
The program can also be found on the podcast page through the iHeart Radio app.
