ELIDA — An Elida man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts related to illegal possession of firearms.
According to the indictment filed, Trevor Leis, 27, of Elida, possessed multiple firearms and rifles while allegedly using illegal controlled substances since January 2018. The indictment also charged Leis with making “false statements to a licensed firearms dealer in order to purchase two firearms illegally.”
In total, Leis has been charged with two counts of being an unlawful drug user in possession of firearms and one count of making false statements in connection with the purchase of firearms. FBI officers arrested Leis on Tuesday morning.
As a result of Leis’s alleged offenses, he must also forfeit eight firearms and related ammunition to the federal government.
