Trooper involved in crash, 2 injured


AUGLAIZE TOWNSHIP — A trooper and a Dublin resident were injured in a crash Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Findlay post.

At about 2:30 p.m., Trooper Kenton Gibson, 29, of the Lima post, was dispatched to investigate a reckless driver complaint. The call was about a vehicle driving west on state Route 117, near the Allen and Auglaize county line. He was driving east on state Route 117 at the time.

He saw the vehicle, attempted to turn around to pursue, and he was struck by a separate vehicle.

Min Zhao, 54, of Dublin, was driving east on state Route 117 and struck the trooper’s car as he was attempting a U-turn.

Both drivers had non-life-threatening injuries. Gibson was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, and Zhao was taken to Lima Memorial Health System.

The crash remains under investigation.
