LIMA — The Area Agency on Aging 3 has announced that it will be joining the Ohio Aging & Disability Transportation Coalition, a group of organizations dedicated to raising public awareness of the importance of increasing allocations to public transportation in order to help the aging and the disabled.
Future initiatives for OADTC include launching the public awareness campaign “Let’s Go, Ohio!” and highlighting the Ohio Mobility Management Program led by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
“Transportation is the number one issue concerning individuals with and without disabilities,” Kathy Foley, executive director of Services for Independent Living, said. “Access to transportation allows people to go to work, medical appointments, school and live in the community. By increasing awareness, we want people to get to where they need to go and also build awareness for expanding transportation services in the state.”
