Two sought in double murder

LIMA — Lima police are centering their search on two possible suspects following the shooting deaths of two people Wednesday morning at an Atlantic Avenue residence on the city’s south side.

Police have identified Clinton Owens Jr., 32, and Michelle Alves, 31, both of Lima, as people of interest in the shooting deaths.

The victims were identified as Tarissa Sanders, 38, and Charles Sanders, 43, both of Lima. Tarissa Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene and Charles Sanders was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The two deaths are the sixth and seventh to die this year in Lima either as a result of gunfire or a stabbing.

The Lima Police Department responded to a call at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday to 413 S. Atlantic Ave. in response to shots fired. According to LPD Detective Steve Stechschulte, two individuals were found inside the residence when police arrived. A female was found deceased and a male initially showed signs of life, but died at a local hospital. According to Stechschulte, both victims died of gunshot wounds.

Previous shooting or stabbing deaths this year included:

• Jan. 20, 2020 — Danielle Jackson, 44, died of gunshot wounds after he was found in the rear parking lot at Pappy’s Lounge at 1000 W. North St., Lima. Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with Jackson’s death.

• Feb. 4, 2020 – Three men died in the early morning hours at Levels Lounge, 122 E North St., Lima. Killed by gunshots were Devontae Upshaw, 24; Terell McGraw, 28; and Timothy White, 25. Deontray Forrest, 25, has been charged with murder in connection with the shootings.

• May 27, 2020 — Rachel Cheney, 71, of 908 E. Kibby St., Lima, was found deceased in a bedroom in the residence. The cause of death was a stab wound to her upper torso. Joseph Cheney, 43, her son, of the same address, is charged with suspicion of murder

• June 3, 2020 — The bodies of Tarissa Sanders, 38, and Charles Sanders, 43, both of Lima, were found inside a home at 413 S. Atlantic Ave. on the morning of June 3. Both died of apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
