LIMA — The Kiwanis Club of Lima presented a check for $1,630 to Family Promise during a ceremony Thursday in the organization’s parking lot, 129 S. Pierce St., Lima.
The money came from the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund, which makes grants available to clubs to help agencies dealing with COVID-19 pandemic. Family Promise works to keep families together during periods of homelessness.
The organization works with local churches to provide families with safe overnight housing and food and with other community agencies to find employment and permanent housing. Fundraisers that support their efforts to feed and shelter homeless families in the Allen County area have been canceled due to the novel coronavirus.
