Bath Township Fire Department responds to mobile home fire

BATH TOWNSHIP — Bath Township Fire Department responded at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday to a heavy fire in the rear bedroom of 2145 N. Dixie Highway, Lot 109, according to a press release from Fire Chief Joseph Kitchen.

The fire was put out within about 10 minutes, but Kitchen estimated about $4,000 in damages to the structure and $2,000 to the mobile home’s contents. The mobile home is rented by Debra Moreno and owned by Brandi Orwig, of Lancaster, Kentucky. Each reported they were uninsured.

Moreno and her grandson were home at the time of the fire and escaped with no injuries. She is being assisted by the Allen County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not suspicious.

The Lima and Lafayette-Jackson Township fire departments assisted at the scene of the fire, and no personnel were injured.
