COLUMBUS — Ohioans who are out of work should file their weekly jobless claims on a different day of the week depending on their last names, effective Sunday, April 26.

To know when to file your claim, file on the appropriate day based on the first letter of your last name:

• Sunday: A-H

• Monday: I-P

• Tuesday: Q-Z

• Wednesday: All

• Thursday: All

• Friday: All

• Saturday: All

The Ohio Department of Job & Family Services announced the change Tuesday in what the department says will streamline processing and expedite payments.

Initial jobless claims can be filed at any time online at unemployment.ohio.gov or by phone at 877-OHIO-JOB. The call center operates 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.
