LIMA — Two more cases of the corona virus were reported in Allen County on Saturday, increasing the total number of cases to 15 with 12 hospitalizations. However, no Allen County resident has died from the virus, as erroneously reported Friday by an investigator with the Allen County Coroner’s office. which indicated that Allen County had one COVID-19 death.
The death in question was that of a 71-year-old Mercer County man who died at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center on Friday. That death was the first in the nine-county region. No additional information is being released on that death.
“We live in a small community, and we ask you to be respectful. COVID-19 has already caused a lot of fears and anxiety, and spreading rumors can fuel panic. If you hear a rumor that is not supported by facts released by our office, ODH or CDC, please do not spread that rumor,” Mercer County Health District’s Facebook post stated.
