March 20

Rhonda Melioli-Brooks, 32, 7640 State Route 15, Lot 10, Defiance, was sentenced to 11 days in jail for aggravated possession of drugs (Methamphetamine). She was given credit for time served and was placed on five years community control. She must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete any counseling and treatment recommended.

March 23

Breanna L. Zavala, 20, 717 W. Broadway St., Apt. 2, Leipsic, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for child endangering. She was given credit for 186 days served. A count of felonious assault was dismissed. Zavala was charged along with her husband Marcos Zavala, for the physical abuse of their three-month-old son last Aug. 20.

According to a police report by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Zavala’s failed to provide adequate care, protection and support for their son who had non-accidental injuries to his ribs, jaw, eye and nose which required hospitalization. The local Child and Family Services had the child removed from the home Aug. 27.A telephonic pre-trial has been scheduled for Marcos J. Zavala, 26, 717 W. Broadway St., Apt. 2, Leipsic, April 2. He has been charged with felonious assault and child endangering.

Joseph A. Garcia, 39, 941 W. Main St., Ottawa, was sentenced to eight to 12 years in prison for rape. He was given credit for 278 days served as of March 23 and any additional days while awaiting transportation to the department. He must register as a Tier Level Three sex offender and register every three months for life.

Amy S. Philquist, 21, 827 Washington Ave., Defiance, was sentenced to 60 days in jail for aggravated possession of drugs (Methamphetamine). She was given credit for time served and placed on five years community control. She must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all counseling and treatment recommended. A count of unlawful conduct with a minor was dismissed.

March 24

The sentence of James C. Berger, 29, 68 Main St., West Leipsic, was modified to allow for a referral to the WORTH Center. He must obtain and maintain employment and complete all counseling and treatment recommended.

Livier B. Parent 62, 2440 Marion Drive, Findlay, was sentenced to 20 days jail for attempted theft. Parent was placed on five years community control and given credit for one day.

March 26

Hope Harwell, Pandora, was granted a divorce from Jeremy Harwell, Bluffton. They were married July 17, 2010, in Martinsville, Ind., and have three children.

March 20

Augustine S. Mendez, 30, 1030 E. 11th St., Apt. D, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to second offense OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 90 days suspended, $1,000 fine, $475 suspended, three-year license suspension and complete drug and alcohol assessment. A charge of failure to control was dismissed.

Juan J. Delgado Torres, 34, 204 E. Third St., Delphos, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 170 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, one-year license suspension and complete drug and alcohol assessment, with credit for six days jail upon completion of DIP. A charge of traffic control device was dismissed.

March 23

Frederick R. Parker, 47, 996 Mohican St., Columbus, charged with OVI and stop sign. The matter came for a change of plea. After addressing the defendant in open court, the court became aware of the defendant’s slurred speech. A PBT was ordered which revealed the defendant was impaired so the court vacated the pleas. Parker’s bond was modified to $10,000 cash or surety with conditions of no alcohol consumption. He was remanded pending posting of bail.

James S. Bishop, 28, 18636 Ottawa Road, Columbus Grove, pleaded guilty to an amended offense of assault. Sentence: 180 days jail, 179 days suspended, $100 fine and complete a mental health assessment.

Terry A. Maag, 58, 20223 Road R, Fort Jennings, pleaded guilty to speeding. Sentence: $50 fine. A charge of driving under OVI suspension was dismissed.

Eric F. Steele, 30, 127 Oak St., Rising Sun, pleaded guilty to assault. Sentence: 180 days jail, 179 days suspended, $100 fine. A charge of domestic violence was dismissed.

March 24

Frederick R. Parker, 47, 996 Mohican St., Columbus, pleaded guilty to endangering children. Sentence: 180 days jail, 60 days suspended, $500 fine, 12-month license suspension and complete alcohol and drug assessment. He was ordered to pay court costs only for a charge of reckless operation and a stop sign violation was dismissed.

Jeremiah W. Harwell, 38, 231 E. Elm St., Bluffton, pleaded guilty to violating a protection order. Sentence: 30 days jail, suspended, $250 fine and no contact with victim except for required child exchange.

Kylee G. Hollstein, 21, 3299 E. Hook-Waltz, Elida, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 170 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, one-year license suspension, with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP and complete alcohol and drug assessment. A charge of speeding was dismissed.

Nichol Bergen, 43, 9779 Faulkner Road, Lot 60, Harrod, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 177 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, one-year license suspension, with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP. A charge of failure to control was dismissed.

Michael J. Beckman, 60, 227 Green Meadow Drive, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to turn signal violation. Sentence: $150 fine. A charge of OVI with refusal was dismissed.

Jacquelyn M. Beckner, 39, 4199 Road 12, Leipsic, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless operation. Sentence: $150 fine. A charge of OVI was dismissed.
