Spencerville woman dies as a result of reported gunshot wound to the head

LIMA — Allen County authorities have thus far released scant information surrounding the shooting death of a Spencerville woman Sunday evening.

According to a statement issued Monday afternoon by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Sunday officers from the sheriff’s office, along with Spencerville police and Spencerville EMT service were dispatched to 457 Charles St. in Spencerville in reference to a 39-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to her head.

The female was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima by Spencerville EMS, where she was pronounced dead. A male subject who was present during the incident is currently being questioned by detectives, according to the statement.

The victim’s body will be transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released as the investigation allows, the release concluded.
