DELPHOS — Delphos Chief of Police Mark Slate on Friday said autopsy results “are still pending” on an infant from Delphos who was pronounced dead Wednesday morning in a Lima hospital.
The chief, however, said there is “no foul play suspected” surrounding the infant’s death.
According to a brief statement issued Thursday morning by Slate, police and first responders were called to the 400 block of West Second Street in Delphos at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday in response to a report of an unresponsive toddler.
The child, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center by Delphos EMS and was pronounced deceased at the hospital’s emergency room.
The infant’s body was transported to the Lucas County Coroners’ Office for a medical autopsy, Slate said.
