DELPHOS — Delphos Police Chief Mark Slate reports a man wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault in that city that reportedly took place in December was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Kentucky on Tuesday.
Alcides Lucas Ordonez-Cruz, 27, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is currently being held in the Barren County jail.
Delphos police were notified by the Kenosha Police Department in Wisconsin on Feb. 7 that an investigation revealed Cruz may have sexually assaulted a family member while visiting a relative in Delphos in December.
Investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Cruz issued in Van Wert Municipal Court on a charge of rape.
Detectives continued to work with multiple agencies in trying to locate and arrest this defendant. The case was recently presented to a Van Wert County Grand Jury for criminal indictments.
Delphos officials also working with agents at the United States Marshal Service’s Toledo office in this case and the investigation culminated on around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when the U.S. Marshal in Bowling Green, Kentucky, raided a residence in that state.
Cruz was taken into custody without incident and is awaiting formal extradition back to Ohio.
