Infant found unresponsive in Delphos pronounced dead at Lima hospital

DELPHOS — An infant found unresponsive at a Delphos home Wednesday morning was pronounced dead at the emergency room of a Lima hospital a short time later.

According to a brief statement issued Thursday morning by Delphos Police Chief Mark Slate, police and first responders were called to the 400 block of West Second Street in Delphos at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday in response the a report of an unresponsive infant.

The child, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center by Delphos EMS. The child was pronounced deceased at the emergency room.

The infant was transported to the Lucas County Coroners’ Office for a medical autopsy, Slate said.

No further information is being available at this time, according to the police chief.
