DELPHOS — Delphos police have arrested a suspect in a string of robberies from residential areas in the southeast quadrant of the city over the past several days.
According to a statement from police the thefts included a firearm taken from a parked motor vehicle on Lima Avenue and the attempted entry of a home on Dewey Street. Police also investigated a robbery at the Deer Creek Apartments where an intruder broke out a front window, crawled into the apartment and stole cash and property.
Wednesday at approximately 3:30 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a suspicious person walking in the 700 block of East Suthoff Street and confronted the individual, who attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody moments later. The 20-year-old male was found to have a handgun concealed on his person and was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The firearm was identified as the weapon that had been stolen the previous evening.
Investigators interviewed the suspect at the Allen County jail and later executed search warrants at an undisclosed location. Investigators were able to recover some of the stolen property taken in the recent theft offenses.
The identity of the suspect will be released once the criminal charges are formally filed in Lima Municipal Court this week, according to the press release.
Delphos police requests that residents call them immediately if they see anything unusual in their neighborhoods.
