‘Girl power’ event teaches self-defense

LIMA — The Lima Noon Optimist Safety City, working together with the Smith Jones Family Foundation, is looking to fill a four-week course created to teach self-defense and empowerment for preteen girls.

Available due to a foundation donation, the course has room for 30 registrants, girls age 8 to 12, to learn the radKIDS children’s safety education program. Set over a four week period, registrants would be required to attend each 9 to 11 a.m. scheduled on March 7, 14, 21 and 28.
