Pedestrian identified who was struck and killed on Lima’s Elida Road

LIMA — The Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released additional details surrounding a traffic crash Monday evening that claimed the life of a pedestrian from Pennsylvania.

At approximately 6:54 p.m. Monday, troopers responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Elida Road and Arthur Avenue, near the Fairfield Inn & Suites.

According to the report, Kisha Kelly, 29, of Van Wert, was operating a 2007 Pontiac G6 that was traveling southeast on Elida Road. Paul Hawley, 60, of Centerville, Pennsylvania, was walking across Elida Road from the north to the south and walked into the path of Kelly’s vehicle, was struck and died.

Kelly was transported by American Township EMS injuries to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with what were reportedly minor injuries. Hawley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lima post was assisted on scene by American Township Fire/EMS, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, the Allen County Coroner and A&D Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
