LIMA — Former Lima Senior and Ohio State basketball standout Greg Simpson on Thursday accepted a plea deal from prosecutors and pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony charge of tampering with records.
A second identical count was dismissed by the state in exchange for that plea.
An Allen County grand jury in December returned two counts of tampering against the 46-year-old Simpson. The charges allege that between October 2018 and July 2019 Simpson, “with the purpose to defraud,” did tamper with “the writing, data, computer software or record … of a local, state or federal government entity.”
Additional detains of the case have not been made public.
Simpson will be sentenced next month.
He is a two-time Mr. Basketball winner in the state of Ohio.
