St. Marys murder suspect makes her first court appearance



WAPAKONETA — Bond was set at $250,000 Monday for the 30-year-old St. Marys woman charged in Saturday’s shooting death of a rural St. Marys man.

Stephanie Sweigart appeared Monday in Auglaize County Municipal Court via video from the Auglaize County jail for her initial court appearance and was formally charged with murder in the shooting death of Wesley Sweigart, 36.

She was represented by Attorney Seneca Knoturas.

The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Saturday’s shooting death of the rural St. Marys man. According to an initial news release from the sheriff’s office, a call was received at 3:32 a.m. Saturday reporting a shooting inside a residence in the Sandy Beach area just west of St. Marys. When deputies arrived, they found Wesley A. Sweigart, 36, deceased inside.

Court documents lists Stephanie Sweigart’s address as 255 Pershing Drive, St. Marys.
