CELINA — Authorities in Mercer County have arrested a registered sex offender who violated reporting requirements by staying somewhere other than where he was reported to be living.
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said Shawn Perry, 49, had reported to the sheriff’s office in December that he was “homeless.” Perry was required to contact central dispatch each evening to report where he was going to be staying that night. On Jan. 28, the sheriff’s office attempted to contact Perry at the last address he had reported. The residents of that address advised that they hadn’t seen Perry in several months.
At that time an arrest warrant was obtained and Perry was arrested on a charge of falsification. Perry may face additional charges after review by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
