Juvenile rescued from Bath Township pond

BATH TOWNSHIP — The Bath Township Fire Department rescued a juvenile who was on the middle of an icy pond at 1582 Slabtown Road at 8:49 a.m. Tuesday.

A Bath Township firefighter in a cold water rescue suit, tethered to the shore, made his way out to the juvenile. The distance was about 50 yards.

The firefighter talked to the juvenile and convinced him to be assisted off the ice.

The juvenile was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center by Lima Fire Department EMS.

Bath fire received help from the Lima Fire Department as well as the Lafayette Jackson Township Fire Department.
