LIMA — Lima firefighters were dispatched twice in approximately 14 hours to a city residence in response to fires and smoke, which forced a family from its home.
According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, crews were first summoned at 5:36 p.m. Sunday to 1320 N. Helen St. and found a fire in the attic above the living room at the home. Firefighters extinguished the fire but were called back at 7:40 a.m. Monday after smoke was seen coming from the attic area of the home.
Damage to the property, owned by Lexie Purdy, was estimated at $15,000, while damage to contents owned by tenant Greg Burgoon was set at approximately $4,000.
The Red Cross was called in Sunday to help find temporary lodging for the tenant.
