Juvenile returned from Tennessee to face rape charge in Mercer County

CELINA — A juvenile has been returned from Tennessee to face rape charges in Mercer County.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported his office filed a complaint in that county’s juvenile court on Dec. 31 charging a 14-year-old male with the rape of a 5-year-old. Grey said Mercer County officials worked closely with the sheriff’s office in Robertson County, Tennessee, to track down the juvenile and take him into custody on Jan. 9.

The teenager waived his extradition to the state of Ohio and was then transported to the detention center in Robertson County. On Monday, two deputies from Mercer County drove to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and took custody of the juvenile. He is currently incarcerated at the West Central Ohio Juvenile Detention Center in Troy, a facility that normally houses juvenile prisoners for Mercer County.
