DELPHOS — Symphony Storytime with the Lima Symphony Orchestra will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Delphos Public Library, 309 W. Second St., Delphos.

The program will be “Drums for Everyone.” It is free and open to the public.

For this innovate program, children and their families will enjoy learning about the colorful and lively percussion family of instruments. The program features new and outstanding children’s literature including the Pura Belpré Award winning book, “Drum Dream Girl” by Margarita Engle, “Drummer Boy of John John” by Mark Greenwood, “Drum City” by Vanessa Newton, and “Be Quiet, Mike!” by Leslie Patricelli. Storytime will end with a drum circle led by Lima Symphony percussionists in which children will have a chance to hear and play drums from around the world. This program allows children to experience music through highly interactive teaching and performances, introducing them to basic musical ideas and concepts. With a focus on creative movement and music literacy, “Symphony Storytime” is designed to spark children’s imaginations and foster a lifelong love of and appreciation for music. This program is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public.
