New Year’s Eve stabbing under investigation by Lima police

LIMA — A Lima man is in custody after getting into an argument with a woman he was eating with at the McDonald’s at Market and Metcalf streets.

According to Lima Police Detective Steve Stechschulte the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve when Jacquez Darby, 21, got into an argument with Fantasia Rodgers, 22, both of Lima.

He pulled out a pocketknife, stabbed Rodgers in the leg and fled the business.

Police found him a few blocks away. He was taken into custody without incident.

Rodgers was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening wounds.

Darby was charged with suspicion of felonious assault.
