Sunday night fire in Lima causes $18,000 in damages

LIMA — A fire of undetermined origin essentially destroyed a Lima home Sunday evening.

According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 6 p.m. to 720 E. Franklin Street in response to a residential fire. Upon arrival firemen found heavy smoke come from the residence. Once inside the structure flames were discovered in the kitchen area in the rear of the home and the fire had spread to the attic area.

The cause of the fire, which reportedly resulted in $18,000 in damages, remains under investigation.

The home is owned by John Gross.
