LIMA — The Lima Police Department is seeking information from the public surrounding a shooting Tuesday night that left one man dead.
According to a statement from police, officers were called at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday to 225 S. Kenilworth Ave. and found Kevonta Cowan suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Cowan was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Tuesday’s shooting death marks the seventh homicide of 2019 in Allen County and the sixth within the city limits of Lima. No suspects have as yet been identified in four of the six homicides.
Branson Tucker, 34, of Lima, was shot and killed Jan. 15 on St. Johns Avenue. Kenneth Cobb and Jerome Fuqua have been charged with murder in his death.
Dustan Purdy, 25, of St. Marys, died after being shot April 19 in the 400 block of Orena Avenue. No charges were filed in connection with his death.
Donald Smith, 63, of Lima, was shot and killed May 4 outside a residence in the 900 block of Brice Avenue. Quintel Estelle turned himself in to police a week later and has been charged with Smith’s murder.
Christian Laws, 19, of Lima, was shot to death June 14 in the 2400 block of Lark Avenue, outside the city limits of Lima. Jolade Reginald Omosikeji Jr. is charged with his murder.
Gregory Cooper, 31, of Lima, died July 19 after being shot in the 700 block of Franklin Street. No suspects have been identified in his death.
Jermaine Ingram, 47, of Lima, died Oct. 30 after being shot in the 600 block of South Metcalf Street. No suspect has yet been identified.
