Two suffer minor injuries after crash at Thayer and 81

BATH TOWNSHIP — Two people suffered minor injuries Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of state Route 81 and Thayer Road, according to the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At 2:12 p.m. Sunday, troopers responded to the crash. Yuliang Fu, 21, of Columbus, drove a 2012 Volkswagen CC while heading north on Thayer Road. According to the patrol post, Fu failed to yield the right of way and pulled in the path of a 2017 Ford Escape heading west on state Route 81 and operated by Margie May, 71, of Lima.

Both vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection and came to rest. The stop sign for southbound Thayer Road was struck and knocked down as the vehicles left the roadway.

Lafayette-Jackson Township EMS transported Fu to Lima Memorial Health System with minor injuries. Bath Township EMS transported May to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with minor injuries.

All occupants in the incident wore seat belts.

The Ohio Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.
