LIMA —Ohio hunters bagged 63,493 deer during the white-tailed deer gun season this past week, according to numbers released by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Last year, 60,752 had been harvested.
By county, 361 were killed in Allen, 341 in Auglaize, 302 in Mercer, 230 in Van Wert, 306 in Putnam and 554 in Hardin.
“Ohio hunters took full advantage of a great week of deer hunting,” Mike Tonkovich, Ohio Division of Wildlife deer program administrator, said in a press release. “The fall weather has been the most hunter-friendly we’ve seen in a long time, and this year’s harvest is certainly proof of that.”
