LIMA — Lima police responded to the Travelodge at 805 S. Leonard Ave. at 4:12 a.m. Sunday after a hotel employee activated a panic alarm.
When they arrived, they heard a gunshot fired in the lobby.
Inside, they found Jujuan M. Payne, 38, of Detroit, armed with a handgun.
Officers convinced him to put the handgun down and he was taken into custody without incident.
Payne was found to be in possession of heroin and was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center after police suspected he might be impaired.
A search warrant was obtained and officers found more suspected narcotics in the room he rented at the hotel.
Payne is being held at the Allen County Jail on suspicion of possession of heroin.
