Two injured in accident at Thayer/309 intersection

BATH TOWNSHIP — Two people suffered minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident at 1:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of state Route 309 and Thayer Road, according to the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Michael E. Overmyer, 61, of Columbus, was stopped in a 2018 Subaru Impreza at the top sign on northbound Thayer Road. A 2013 Dodge Caravan, driven by Nicki R. Moser, 48, of Bluffton, was westbound on state Route 309.

Overmyer’s Subaru failed to yield the right-of-way and was struck by Moser’s Dodge. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and came to rest in the northwest corner of the intersection.

Both were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both vehicles’ airbags deployed. Overmyer and Moser both wore seat belts, minimizing their injuries, according to the highway patrol.

Alcohol wasn’t believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Perry Township Fire Department and EMS, Miller Auto Towing and A&D Towing.
