LIMA — Lima police are seeking information from the public into a shooting Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Reese Avenue and East Second Street that sent two individuals to area hospitals.

Officers from the Lima Police Department responded shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday to 948 S. Reese Ave. in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located Leroy Smith, of Lima, in the doorway of the residence suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper thigh.

Another victim, Michael Gooding of Newport, Kentucky, reportedly was struck by a stray bullet and was located at a residence in the 200 block of East Second Street.

Both Smith and Gooding were transported to hospitals with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
