Leipsic man injured in two-vehicle crash Tuesday


WEST LEIPSIC — A two-vehicle traffic accident northwest of West Leipsic on Tuesday left a Leipsic man with unspecified injuries.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:38 a.m. to the intersection of Road 10 and Road X. After a preliminary investigation, it was determined that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Ronald W. Niese, Leipsic, was southbound on Road 10 and failed to stop at the intersection of Road X. Niese struck a 2020 Kenworth semi truck pulling a trailer owned by Farmer’s Elevator Grain and Supply and operated by Jeremy M. Sheets, New Bavaria.

Niese was transported by the Putnam County EMS to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Assisting at the scene were Leipsic Fire Department, Ottawa Fire Department, Putnam County EMS, Leipsic EMS and Meyer’s Auto Service. The crash remains under investigation.
