Three hurt in crash near Rockford


ROCKFORD — The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash near Rockford.

According to a news release, at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to the crash at state Route 118 and state Route 707.

When they arrived, they discovered that a 2017 Chevrolet Trax SUV was westbound on state Route 707 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. It was struck by a 2000 Freightliner truck and trailer which was northbound on state Route 118.

The driver and passenger in the SUV, Rosann Schwartz, 47, and Jonas Schwartz, 50, of Winchester, were eventually taken by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the truck, Andres Lopez, 58, of Washington, Iowa, was taken to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys for non-life threatening injuries.
