Lima authories search for suspect in Saturday night shooting

LIMA — Local law enforcement officials are searching for the suspect in a Saturday night altercation in Lima that resulted in one man suffering a gunshot to his thigh.

According to a statement issued Monday by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:15 p.m. to the area of 1559 Edgewood Drive in reference to a felonious assault complaint. The victim, Tracey Smith, 49, of Lima, reported he had been shot by another individual during the altercation. Crews from American Township EMS arrived on scene and transported Smith to Mercy-Health-St. Ritas Medical Center with injuries that were considered non-life threatening, according to the statement.

The suspect fled and had not been located as of Monday afternoon.

Charges are likely and suspect information will be released as the case allows, officials said.
