Sheriff’s office investigates Monday burglary on Leonard Avenue

LIMA — Deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a burglary and forced entry at a Lima residence earlier this week.

According to a statement issued by investigators, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:44 a.m. Monday to the residence at 141 S. Leonard Ave. in reference to an aggravated burglary complaint.

Deborah Taulker, 65, told detectives that an unknown male subject entered her home that morning, demanded money and assaulted her. A handgun was used during the crime, but the victim was not shot, according to the statement. Taulker was transported to Lima Memorial Health System for treatment of her injuries, which included a swollen eye and lacerations to her head.

The initial report indicates an unknown amount of U.S. currency was stolen from the victim during the burglary. Detectives are continuing their investigation into the crime and additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
