Van Wert woman killed Monday night in U.S. 30 traffic crash


VAN WERT — A Van Wert woman died Monday night from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle traffic accident just outside the city.

According to a press release issued by Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach, Kathi R. Williams, 58, was southbound on John Brown Road at approximately 10 p.m. and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 30. Her 2011 Dodge Avenger was struck by a semi tractor driven by Homer Bolin, 67, of Georgetown, Kentucky, that was westbound on U.S. 30.

Williams sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office. Bolin was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Van Wert fire and EMS, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Van Wert Police Department.
