LIMA — A Lima residence has been deemed to be a total loss after it was ravaged by fire around noon Friday.
A spokesman for the Lima Fire Department said crews were dispatched at 11:21 a.m. to 773 S. Atlantic Ave. in response to a residential fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters found fire and smoke coming from second-story windows on three sides of the structure.
All of the occupants of the home — a woman and her four children — were alerted by smoke detectors and had exited the home safely before firefighters arrived, the spokesman said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and a dollar figure was not immediately available on the damage to the home, which is owned by Angelique Williams.
The Red Cross was called to assist the family in finding temporary lodging.
