OTTAWA — No one was hurt in a fire Thursday afternoon.

The person renting the house reported the porch fire at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at 1292 E. Third St., according to Rob Fawcett, Ottawa Fire Department assistant fire chief. The home is owned by Chad Haugh, who said he rents the home to a friend.

“When we arrived I saw smoke on the porch, and it took us 15 minutes to put out. There was fire and smoke damage to the porch and minor smoke damage in the home’s basement,” Fawcett said.

Ottawa Police closed the intersection of Third and Agner streets as fire departments worked. Glandorf Fire Department, Putnam County Sheriffs Office and Ottawa EMS also responded.

The cause of the fire is unknown, according to Fawcett.
