LIMA — A Lima man was taken into custody early Friday morning by Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they determined he was intoxicated and in possession of a gun inside a residence.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday to 3833 Harding Highway and learned that Garrick Egri, 45, was inside the residence.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, a perimeter was immediately established, and officers transported two complainants from the residence, who confirmed Garrick had a gun and that he was now alone in the house.
Deputies made contact with Garrick over the phone and through an open garage door in attempts to have him exit the home. Garrick repeatedly refused to exit and made suicidal comments during multiple phone calls.
At approximately 12:22 a.m., the Allen County SWAT team arrived, and members later entered the home. Garrick was taken into custody and was charged with inducing panic and felonious assault. Firearms and ammunition were recovered in the home.
The investigation is being handled by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and is still ongoing.
