Commissioners review Sheriff, Treasurer budgets for 2020

LIMA — The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is asking for an additional $200,000 in 2020 to pay for a new records management system, correctional officer salary increases and to cover the salary for the county’s DARE officer, which had previously been paid with state funding.

The Allen County Commission heard proposed departmental budgets from the Sheriff’s Office and Allen County Treasurer on Thursday as the commissioners review $29.4 million in general fund requests for 2020.

The commissioners plan to send preliminary budgets back to department heads by mid-December after the Allen County Budget Commission, which is made up of the treasurer, auditor and prosecutor, sets its 2020 revenue projections.
