224 accident in Ottawa temporarily closes road


OTTAWA — A two-vehicle collision on state Route 224 on the eastern edge of Ottawa early Monday morning closed the road for 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.

According to Randy Weller, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputy, at 6:37 a.m. Monday the office received a report of a two-vehicle accident.

Constance Hutchins, 38, Van Buren, was driving westbound on 224 driving a 2017 Ford C-Max, when she stopped to allow a vehicle in front of her turn left.

When she stopped her vehicle, she was hit from behind by Mark Schierloh, 52, Ottawa, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagon Jetta.

No injuries were reported and Ottawa Police Department, Putnam County Sheriffs Office and Ottawa Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene. The vehicles were towed by Meyer’s Auto Sales, Glandorf.

Ottawa-Glandorf schools bus 20 and bus 12 ran five to 10 minutes late due to state Route 224 being temporarily closed.
