Indiana man critical following Mercer County crash


MERCER COUNTY — A Decatur, Indiana, man was injured after he tried to pass a pickup truck on his motorcycle and struck it instead around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wapakoneta post, Travis Conrad, 29, was northbound on state Route 49 and was in the process of passing the pickup truck, driven by Gary Hamrick, 67, of Willshire, when Hamrick turned left from state Route 49 to Rockford West Road.

Conrad, who was not wearing a helmet, struck the driver’s door of the truck. He was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was listed in critical condition.

Hamrick was not injured.
