LIMA — Lima City Councilor Derry Glenn on Tuesday announced a new initiative to help homeowners in the sixth ward.
The non-governmental housing assistance program would rely on private business funding to finance home repairs for sixth ward residents who have owned their home for at least five years.
“In the sixth ward there are an increasing number of homeowners who have reached retirement age or have come to the time in their lives when they are on fixed income, making the burden of home restoration nearly impossible,” Glenn stated in a news release. “Some people have had to leave their homes solely due to the lack of a financial plan that would allow them to keep up their homes.”
Glenn is looking for businesses to donate $10,000 per year for three years to his LLC, Community Action Program, which would cover the cost of repairs for qualified homeowners.
