Lima receiving grant to help eliminate lead paint

LIMA — The City of Lima will be receiving a $2 million grant for the identification and elimination of lead paint, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Thursday.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes awarded more than $44 million in grants to the cities of Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus and Lima, as well as Cuyahoga, Erie, Mahoning and Summit counties.

In March, DeWine announced a plan to combat lead poisoning through removal and remediation, early intervention and treatment.
