LIMA — Bronze parts manufacturer Randall Bearings plans to construct a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and distribution center on McClain Road in 2020.
Randall Bearings President and CEO Kent Morgan said the company is still in the process of purchasing the property, which will replace its Greenlawn Avenue facility.
“We need to expand,” said Morgan, who noted that the current facility is not set up well for both warehousing and manufacturing.
Randall Bearings moved its headquarters and manufacturing to Lima in 1949. The company built a second manufacturing center in Coldwater in 2006, which was then expanded in 2012.
Construction of the new Lima facility could begin as early as 2020. Morgan anticipates that project could take 18 months to complete.
The Allen County Commissioners on Thursday approved a tax abatement related to the expansion — a 95% abatement for 10 years. Randall Bearings anticipates it will invest between $6 million and $7 million and retain 87 full-time employees in its move to McClain.
